Child and Family Foundation Uganda
Empowering communities through comprehensive care, medical services, and financial inclusion
Welcome Note from
the Executive Director
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of Child and Family Foundation Uganda (CFU). We are a locally rooted, mission-driven organization committed to improving the health, well-being, and future opportunities of vulnerable children, families, and communities across Uganda.
Since our establishment in 2012, CFU has worked tirelessly to respond to the critical challenges facing families, especially in underserved and peri-urban areas. From accessible maternal and child healthcare to early childhood development, sustainable livelihoods, and community-based research, our work is guided by one core belief: that every child deserves a strong start in life, and every family deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Our impact is only possible because of the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, community volunteers, partners, and donors. With over a decade of service, we are proud to have reached tens of thousands of children and caregivers through health outreach, learning centres, microfinance support, and community-based innovations.
This platform is designed to share our story, highlight our achievements, and offer you a transparent view of our work. Whether you are here to learn more, get involved, or partner with us, we are glad to have you.
Thank you for walking this journey with us as we continue to build resilient, healthy, and empowered communities, one family at a time.
Warm regards
Dr. Harriet Babikako
Executive Director

About Us
Dedicated to improving lives and building stronger communities across Uganda

Since its inception, CFU has responded to glaring gaps in Uganda’s health and social-care landscape. In peri-urban Kampala slums, mothers routinely walk over 5 km to reach basic antenatal services. In 2012, a group of paediatricians, community health workers and local church leaders came together to bridge that divide. They envisioned a centre where:
- Mothers and newborns receive uninterrupted care, regardless of ability to pay.
- Early learning and nutritional support begin at birth, preventing stunting in the critical first 1,000 days.
- Youth and women gain the skills and capital to escape cycles of poverty.
- Persons with disabilities, long overlooked, find a safe space for therapy, advocacy and income-generation.
That “coalition of care” became CFU. From day one, we committed to a holistic, family-centred model—one that blends clinic-based services with door-to-door outreach, vocational training and rigorous research—so that health gains stick.
